t be visible from Berlin.

If one would see the complete event of the Lunar eclipse, one should consider a travel to Reykavik on Iceland, because there the eclipse will be visible from the start until the end.

The next total Lunar eclipse, where a completely darkened Moon will be visible as seen from Berlin, takes place at the evening of the 15th of June in 2011.

www.surveyor.in-berlin.de

Juni 2011 statt.

Diese Finsternis war knapp vier Minuten lang.

There is one way to settle the matter once and for all.

This is to discover in the Mayan codices a clear reference to an eclipse (complete with long count date) which can also be determined by astronomers as having occurred on a certain date in the European calendar.

Solar eclipses are promising, because they are visible only in a restricted area (unlike lunar eclipses which can be seen over most of the Earth's night hemisphere), and thus are not common in any one region such as the Mayas occupied.

www.hermetic.ch

It will be only somewhat darker, generally unnoticable with the naked eye.

At June 16 at 0:02h CET ( 1:02h CET DST ) the Moon will be also out of the half shadow of the Earth, the eclipse will be over.

The above picture of the Lunar eclipse references to an animation as a GZip compressed Quicktime movie ( 356kB ) of the visible part of the eclipse in 3-minute-steps, created with StarryNight 2.0.

Only a few cirrus clouds disturbed the spectacle.

Short after eclipse started continuosly images with different exposure times have been done.

Later these were used to make HDR images, which are also used for a nice animation .

Kepler space telescope, launched in 2009, has the mission to determine, in our Galaxy, the abundance of rocky planets placed inside the habitable zone of stars similar to the Sun.

Kepler constantly monitors some 150 000 stars in search for transits due to their planetary companions (transits are equivalent to eclipses in the Solar System).

As a consequence most of the shocked solar wind flows around the planet.

During the eclipse ( when the spacecraft is in the shadow of Venus ) heavy ions of planetary origin, most probably oxygen, can be observed.

On the outbound pass Venus Express crosses again all those regions but in reverse order.

www.mps.mpg.de

Anschließend passiert Venus Express wieder dieselben Regionen, jedoch in umgekehrter Reihenfolge.
