Die Ausstellung wurde von Adam Szymczyk in Zusammenarbeit mit Annette Amberg und Roos Gortzak kuratiert, sowie von Salvatore Lacagnina, dem künstlerischen Leiter des Schweizerischen Instituts in Rom, co-kuratiert.
Eine Kurzgeschichte des britischen Schriftstellers Malcolm Lowry ( 1909-1957 ) mit dem Titel „ Strange Comfort Afforded by the Profession “ ( Seltsamer Trost, den der Beruf gewährt ) inspirierte diese Ausstellung.
Sie wurde erstmalig im Jahr 1953 in der Zeitschrift New World Writing veröffentlicht, 1954 auf Italienisch herausgegeben und schliesslich 1961 in die posthum erschienene Sammlung Hear Us O Lord From Heaven Thy Dwelling Place aufgenommen.

The exhibition was inspired by a short story titled “ Strange Comfort Afforded by the Profession ”, by British writer Malcolm Lowry ( 1909 – 1957 ).
The story, first published in the magazine New World Writing in 1953, was translated and published in Italian in 1954 and then included in 1961 in the posthumous collection Hear Us O Lord from Heaven Thy Dwelling Place.

„ Strange Comfort ( Afforded by the Profession ) “ versucht die festen Parameter einer Gruppenausstellung und die Regeln, die ihre Inszenierung bestimmen, zu hinterfragen.
