Die NCAA und die NAIA
In den USA gibt es zwei Organisationen bzw. Verbände, die NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association) und die NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics), die für den Spielbetrieb und für die Einteilung der Ligen zuständig sind.
Die Trennung in verschiedene Ligen erfolgt durch die Größe der Hochschulen und durch die geförderten Sportarten.

The USA has two associations: the NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association) and the NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics), which are responsible for assigning the divisions and game schedules.
The assignment to a division is determined by the size of the college and the kind of sport being sponsored; skill level is irrelevant.
