Newsreel ist eine Gruppe unabhängiger Filmproduktions- und Verleihgesellschaften in verschiedenen Teilen des Landes.
Seit den ersten Treffen von Filmemachern nach der Pentagon-Demonstration gegen den Vietnam-Krieg im Oktober 1967 haben die verschiedenen Newsreel-Gruppen über 60 Dokumentarfilme gemacht.
Alle Filme werden in Zusammenarbeit mit Basis-Organisationen in den Stadtbezirken und an den Arbeitsplätzen gedreht.
