Anyone who has tried to do culture, scholarship, public thought, entertainment or political thinking on the national level will recognize the brick wall of underpopulation.
Exaggerated fears of reproduction, and the forced mechanisms brought to bear on it, mean that long-term underpopulation, rather than overpopulation, may be the real concern.
