Considered by some as the greatest mountaineer of his generation, American Ed Viesturs scaled all 14 of the world ’s 8,000-metre peaks without supplemental oxygen during his Endeavour 8000 project.
Starting in 1989 with Mount Kangchenjunga in the Nepalese Himalayas, he finished in 2005 with Annapurna.
In all, Viesturs has climbed to over 8,000 metres 21 times – including seven ascents of Mount Everest – an achievement that puts him firmly on top of world.

My this year’s objective is the ascent of Talung which neighbours with Kangchenjunga and shares the same glacier Yalung with it.
It is not as famous with the public and stands in the shadow of the giant eight-thousander, but for a mountaineering heart it is the logical continuation in opening new directions, connected with a unique and genuine adventure.
