Bioinformatics
The Bioinformatics Group of the University of Potsdam, led by Prof. Dr. Joachim Selbig, works together with the bioinformaticians around Dr.Dirk Walther at the MPI-MP to develop computer methods to support the analysis of complex data.
In practice, we want to determine the important variables for specific biological processes (e.g. which gene products are responding to external stimuli).

Die Bioinformatikgruppe um Prof. Dr. Joachim Selbig von der Universität Potsdam arbeitet gemeinsam mit der Gruppe um Dr. Dirk Walther des MPI-MP an der Entwicklung von computergestützten Methoden, die die Analyse komplexer Daten unterstützen.
Konkret geht es häufig darum, die für einen biologischen Vorgang wesentlichen Variablen (zum Beispiel welche Genprodukte sind für die Antwort auf externe Reize charakteristisch) zu bestimmen.
