One process step is to develop a mini-sterilizer using gentle but highly effective physical sterilization technologies ( e.g. electron beam sterilization ) to allow on-site sterilization within a few seconds, in particular for medical products that have not been possible to sterilize hitherto.
The work of the Fraunhofer IVV in this project includes the development of intelligent and active packaging concepts, assessment of product safety, and proof of the deactivation of endotoxins.
