In 2007, the jury awarded the project a prize of €1000 for showing “multiculturalism from the viewpoint of the ‘others’” and for “making a valuable contribution to Austria’s past and present.”

Seine Theorien der 1980er-Jahre zu Kreolisierung, Diversität und Differenz waren maßgeblich für die Herausbildung des Interesses an Multikulturalität, Identitätspolitik und „Minderheiten“-Literaturen. In the 1980s, his theses on creolization, diversity and difference played a crucial role in raising interest in multiculturalism, the politics of identity and “minority” literature.The works of this thinker, probably the most important contemporary intellectual – comprising poems, novels and philosophical essays – refuse to be pigeon-holed.
They “combine philosophy and poetry in their most profound and purest form”, as the philosopher Gilles Deleuze put it.

Nicht nur deshalb gehört Multikulturalität zum Deutschen Film, vertreten größtenteils von türkischstämmigen Regisseuren wie Fatih Akin, Yilmaz Arslan oder Sinan Akkus, sukzessive aber auch von deutschen Filmemachern und ihren Kollegen aus anderen „Migrantenländern“.

This is one of the many reasons why multiculturalism has become part of German cinema, mostly advocated by directors of Turkish descent like Fatih Akin, Yilmaz Arslan and Sinan Akkus. In the meantime the subject is also being increasingly addressed by German filmmakers and their colleagues with “immigrant backgrounds”.
