Bis zur Mittelstation der Planai bei Kilometer 13 ist die Straße asphaltiert.
Gleich danach ab der Mautstation gibt es nur mehr eine gewalzte , kompakte Schotterstraße , die aber so breit ist , dass 2 LKW bequem aneinander vorbeifahren können .
Die letzten 600 Meter vor der Planai-Bergstation sind nicht mehr so steil und man kann schon die herrliche Aussicht genießen.
