In contrast to other existing aqueous phase mechanisms, CAPRAM 3.0 also includes reactions of organic compounds with more than 2 carbon atoms ( alcohols, carbonyls, carboxylic acids ) besides the common C1-C2 chemistry.
In the mechanism, a detailed reaction scheme concerning sulphur(IV) oxidation by radicals, transitional metal ions (iron, copper and manganese), peroxides and ozone is included.
Additionally to the basic mechanism of CAPRAM, reduced chemical mechanisms (Deguillaume et al., 2009) for regional scale chemistry transport models and further mechanism modules were developed throughout the last years.

Im Mechanismus ist außerdem ein detailliertes Reaktionsschema der Schwefel(IV) Oxidation durch Radikale, Übergangsmetalle (Eisen, Kupfer, Mangan), Peroxyde und Ozon integriert.
Neben dem Basismechanismus von CAPRAM wurden in den letzten Jahren auch reduzierte Chemiemechanismen (Deguillaume et al., 2009) für regionale Chemie-Transport-Modelle und weitere spezielle Reaktionsmodule entwickelt.
