Am 11. Juni 1952 wurde die Anlage feierlich eingeweiht :
Ein Auftritt von Hans Albers gab den passenden maritimen Rahmen, auch der Mast wurde zünftig nach altem Seemannsbrauch mit einer Flasche Rum vom bekannten Weltumsegler und Polarforscher Karl Kircheiß getauft.
Die nautische Kameradschaft Hansea von 1896 e.V., dessen Alterspräsident Kircheiß war, übernahm mit der Taufe auch die Patenschaft für diese einmalige maritime Einrichtung.

An appearance of Hans Albers gave the suitable maritime frame and the old sailors' tradition of baptising the mast with a bottle of rum was adhered to.The well-known circumnavigator and polar explorer Karl Kircheiß did the honour.
The nautische Kameradschaft Hansea von 1896 e.V., whose chairman by seniority was Kircheiß, took with the baptism also the sponsorship over for this unique maritime facility.
