In large pianos like concert grands, less inharmonicity allows a complete string stretch without negatively affecting close octaves and other intervals.
In shorter pianos the wire stiffness in the bass register is proportionately high and therefore causes greater stretch; on larger concert grand pianos this effect is reduced.

On top of their other duties, they're now working with a supplier to source a top-of-the-line concert grand piano at the 11th hour for opening-week performances.
